We’re officially in December! That means there’s less than a month left of 2018, and I hope you guys are making New Year’s resolutions that you’ll stick to! Whatever it may be, I have faith that you can do it.
Still, it’s the holiday season, and Christmas is still a good 20+ days away! After Thanksgiving, I always feel a little sluggish from all the foods that I indulge in. While I love the Thanksgiving holiday, I don’t exactly like how tired I feel afterwards. I contribute that to all the hormones added into the turkey, all the butter in the casseroles, etc…
So after Thanksgiving, I’ll do the Cranberry Flush….
…and I’ll stick to a clean diet up until Christmas Eve/Christmas Day. Detoxing in the middle of Thanksgiving and Christmas is always a good idea. It not only will help re-boost your metabolism, but it will help flush out all the bad foods you overindulged in – and believe me, we all do it.
Cranberries are such a big part of the holiday season. We use it for cranberry sauce, we have scented cranberry candles burning, and well the list goes on.
But did you know that cranberries can also help you lose weight? While most of us are used to drinking cranberry juice cocktail, (think Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice), 100% PURE cranberry juice can help you flush out pollutants, and toxins by healing the liver and cleansing out the lymphatic system. Cranberries are a natural diuretic, contain Vitamins that are essential for healthy bones, and the antioxidants in cranberry juice can help prevent heart disease as well as certain cancers.
If you do the Cranberry Flush and eat clean, you can easily lose up to 12 pounds within a 72 hours!
That’s a lot of unwanted toxins flushed out of the body!
The key is to getting a good quality Cranberry Juice. I use R.W. Knudsen Just Cranberry Juice. It’s relatively cheap, and easy to find at Walmart, and lots of other grocery stores usually carry it. The problem with Ocean Spray, and other Cranberry Juice Cocktails, is that they’re loaded with added sugars, and some even contain other fruit juices that we don’t want while doing the Cranberry Flush.
Once you have your cranberry juice, grab yourself a pitcher, and dilute your juice with water. Pure cranberry juice is very tart, so you want to add water to break up the tartness. For every ounce of juice, you want 7 ounces of water. Drink this throughout the day for 3 days, along with a healthy diet, and you’ll notice a difference in bloating and energy, as well as decreased cravings for sweets. Yes, this will also help curb those sweet-tooth cravings.
Model Rebecca Romijn uses the cranberry flush when she wants to shed a quick 5-10 pounds. Her trick is adding 2 tbsp of ground flaxseed per cup of cranberry.
I don’t recommend this cleanse for longer than 3 days. Cranberry juice, even though it contains all-natural sugar, still contains about 116 calories per cup, which can add up over time. 72 hours is the usual recommended time frame for the Cranberry Flush. I like to add some lemons in there as well, as lemon juice actually scrubs the intestines and liver clean, helping to reduce the inflammation and bloat that toxins cause.
So if you’re beating yourself up about eating those Thanksgiving leftovers for a week, and you’re wanting to give yourself a little ‘flush’ out, try the Cranberry Flush, and clean up your diet for a few days. You’ll be surprised at what a holiday fruit staple can actually do for weight loss.
